You still have questions? We have prepared a small FAQ for you:
Do I have to buy the ticket every month?
No, just like the normal 49€ ticket, the Upgrade Ticket is a subscription and is automatically renewed until the end of the current semester.
Can I cancel the Deutschlandticket at any time?
Yes!
I study in Germersheim, can I also buy the upgrade this way?
No.
Can I print out the ticket?
No, printouts and screenshots of the ticket are not valid.
Why an upgrade ticket? Couldn't one have just cancelled the semester ticket?
Yes, one could have, but we decided against it. The problem is that it is completely uncertain what will happen with the Deutschlandticket. In fact, it's not even certain whether the Deutschlandticket will continue to exist at all in the future, let alone at this price. Our semester ticket functions as a solidarity model to enable students who are financially worse off to use public transportation. If the Deutschlandticket becomes more expensive, it could become impossible for many students to buy a ticket.
Do I still have to pay for the semester ticket?
Yes, the semester ticket is and remains a solidarity model.
How is the price calculated? somehow it seems crooked to me...
Overview Semesterticket:
MVG 129,37 € (without MVG-Mein-Rad)
RMV 50,54 €
RNN 42,75 €
DB/TransRegio 6,85 €
Total: 229,51€ for the winter semester 2023/2024
per month: 38,25€
This results in: 49€ - 38,25€ = 10,75€.
Wait, isn't there something missing?
The MVG MeinRad bike rental (6,15€ per semester) is not part of the Deutschlandticket and is not considered in the upgrade. So that we, as students, can continue to enjoy the benefits of bike rental, this 6,15€ must of course continue to be paid.
Where did the 12,41€ come from that I read somewhere?
The number was wrong because it was calculated with the numbers of the last two semesters. The actual upgrade costs 10,75€.
