What is the Germany semester ticket refund all about?
Here you can find information about the refunds that will be made in the summer semester of 2024 due to the Germany semester ticket. In principle, every student will receive a refund of 53,11 €, which will be made at the end of September / beginning of October 2024. The reason for this is that the Germany semester ticket, which was introduced in the summer semester of 2024, is exactly this amount cheaper than the old semester ticket, which was valid until then and was purchased through the semester fee. A detailed breakdown of the costs can be found in the following lists.
The semester fee of 357,46 € for the summer semester of 2024 was made up of the following:

The contribution for the semester ticket in the summer semester of 2024 was again made up as follows:

As can be seen, the contribution for the summer semester of 2024 resulted from the individual contributions for the respective transport companies. Unfortunately, the Germany Semester Ticket could not be taken into account at that time. Since this has now been passed, the following new amounts apply for the summer semester of 2024:

The difference between the original semester ticket fee and the current one is 53,11 € (because 235,66 € - 182,55 € = 53,11 €). This difference will be refunded to students at the end of September / beginning of October 2024.
How will the reimbursements be made?
The money will be refunded to the accounts deposited with the Student Secretariat from which the semester fee for the summer semester of 2024 was paid. If a transfer to the account deposited with the Student Secretariat did not work (because, for example, the account was closed in the meantime), we will contact these students so that they can provide us with a new IBAN via an application form. Students who paid the semester fee in cash and who deposited a foreign or incorrect IBAN will be referred to the same application form. The application form is currently still being prepared.

Since the re-registration period for the winter semester 2024/25 has already passed, the fees will not be offset against the winter semester fees.
A partial refund based on the Germany Semester Ticket is only possible for students who have not submitted an approved application for subsidy of the semester ticket, as otherwise money for the semester ticket would be paid to students for whom the costs of the ticket have already been covered.
A partial refund based on the Germany semester ticket is only possible for students who have not submitted an approved refund application for the semester ticket, as these students have already received a refund for the semester ticket.
A partial refund based on the Germany Semester Ticket is only possible for students who have not submitted an approved refund application for the Semester Ticket due to severe disability, as these students have already received a refund for the Semester Ticket.
The AStA is currently still in the payment process. You are welcome to contact us at the end of October 2024 if you have still not received a refund despite being entitled to one. We ask that you refrain from making inquiries until then.
